Two jobs in one spray

Spray foam starts as a liquid. We spray it where it goes. It expands and hardens into a solid layer. That layer does two things at once. It blocks air leaks. It slows heat. Most insulation only does the second one.

This matters in attics with lots of leaks. Old homes have gaps everywhere. Wires, pipes, and chimney chases all punch holes through the attic floor. Foam seals them shut as it goes on.

It costs more than blown-in. We tell you that up front. For some attics it is worth it. For others it is not. We give you the honest math.

Open-cell vs. closed-cell

There are two kinds of foam. Open-cell is soft and light. It expands a lot and fills big gaps. It costs less. It lets a little moisture pass through, which can be good in some attics.

Closed-cell is dense and hard. It blocks moisture. It adds strength. It insulates more per inch. It costs more.

For most attic floors, open-cell is the pick. For roof decks and rim joists, closed-cell often wins. We match the foam to the spot.

When spray foam is the right call

Your attic has tons of air leaks. Your home is old with odd framing. You want to seal the attic and insulate it in one visit. You have a bonus room with sloped ceilings that never feel right. Foam shines in these cases.

You have ducts in the attic. Foam on the roof deck turns the attic into a mild space. Your ducts stop baking in summer. Your system works less.

When it is not worth it

Your attic just needs more depth. Blown-in costs far less and does the job. Your budget is tight. A good air seal plus blown-in gets you most of the way there. We would rather sell you the right job than the big job.

Our process

1. Free inspection. We check your attic shape, leaks, and vent plan. Foam changes how an attic breathes, so we plan vents with care.

2. Prep and mask. We cover everything foam should not touch. Foam sticks to all of it. Masking takes time and we do not rush it.

3. Spray day. We spray in lifts, letting each layer set. You and your pets stay out of the home during spraying and for the cure time we set.

4. Trim and check. We trim high spots, check depth, and test that vents still flow. We clean up and walk you through it.

Safety on spray day

Fresh foam gives off fumes while it cures. That is why you leave during the work. Once cured, it is inert and safe. We tell you exactly when it is safe to come back. We ventilate the space the whole time we work.

Foam and roof decks

Some jobs spray the underside of the roof instead of the attic floor. This makes the attic part of your home's warm space. It is great when ducts run through the attic. It needs a vent plan so moisture has a way out. We design that plan before we spray a drop.

Foam in bonus rooms

Rooms over the garage are the hardest rooms in the house. Sloped ceilings. Knee walls. Tight spots where thick batts will not fit. Foam was made for this.

We spray the sloped ceiling and the knee walls. The foam seals and insulates in one pass. The room finally matches the rest of the house. Clients tell us it is the first time the room ever felt right.

Sealed attics

Most attics are vented. Air flows in low and out high. Foam on the roof deck changes that. The attic becomes sealed. It stays closer to indoor temps all year.

Sealed attics work well when ducts run through the attic. The ducts stop baking in July. But a sealed attic needs a plan for moisture. We design that plan before we spray a drop. We do not spray and hope.

What foam cannot fix

Foam is great, but it is not magic. It will not fix a worn-out HVAC system. It will not fix leaky ducts on its own. It will not fix an attic that needs better vents.

That is why we inspect first. If your problem is ducts, we say so. If your problem is vents, we say so. We sell foam when foam is the fix. Anything else would be wrong.

What spray day is like

We arrive early and mask everything. Floors, walls, and fixtures get covered. Foam sticks to all of it, so we take our time here.

Then we spray. The rig is loud. The attic gets warm. We work in lifts and let each layer set. A normal attic takes a few hours of spray time.

After we finish, the attic airs out. We tell you when it is safe to come home. Most clients return the same evening. We leave the attic clean and trimmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is spray foam worth the extra cost?

It depends on your attic. If air leaks are your main problem, foam fixes leaks and insulates at once. If you just need more depth, blown-in costs less and works fine. We show you both options.

Do I have to leave my home during spraying?

Yes, during spraying and the cure time after. Fresh foam gives off fumes. Once it cures it is safe. We give you a clear time to return.

Can spray foam go over old insulation?

Usually we remove or compress problem areas first. Foam needs a clean surface to stick to. We check your attic and tell you what prep it needs.

Will spray foam trap moisture in my attic?

Done right, no. We plan ventilation with every foam job so moisture has a way out. Closed-cell foam itself blocks moisture. The plan matters more than the product.

How long does spray foam last?

Decades. It does not sag, settle, or fall apart. Once it cures, it stays put for the life of the home.

Does spray foam keep pests out?

It seals the gaps pests use to get in, which helps a lot. It is not pest control, though. If you have an active problem, handle that first, then seal with foam.
